Victor, Colorado, has recently faced significant challenges with its water infrastructure. In May 2026, the city experienced a major water outage due to the replacement of a more than 50-year-old water main. This led to a local disaster emergency declaration, as the city’s water treatment and delivery system ceased functioning properly. Residents were advised to cease all water use until further notice. The city has since been working diligently to repair, stabilize, and sanitize the system, including flushing it with chlorine. While progress has been made, additional system work is still needed in the coming days and weeks, and some interruptions in water service may occur.
Despite these challenges, the community is looking forward to several upcoming events that celebrate Victor’s rich history and culture. The annual Victor Gem & Mineral Show, presented by the Southern Teller County Focus Group, will be held from June 19 to 21 in downtown historic Victor. The event offers a unique way to spend Father’s Day weekend in the mountains, featuring vendors selling polished gems, hand-crafted jewelry, rough slabs, specimens, cabochons, geodes, turquoise, and more. There will also be gold and gem panning at the Victor Lowell Thomas Museum. Show hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
Following the Gem & Mineral Show, Victor will host its annual Gold Rush Days from July 17 to 19. This lively weekend celebration brings together the gold of the past with the gems of today, featuring live mining demonstrations, colorful parades, toe-tapping music, and mouthwatering food. Whether you’re panning for adventure, dancing in the street, or just soaking in the small-town charm, there’s family fun for all ages at every turn.
These events provide an opportunity for residents and visitors alike to come together and celebrate the resilience and spirit of the Victor community.
